Sadly, HMV went into administration this morning.
With the amount of shopping that is now being done via the internet, it won't be the last retailer to go out of business in 2013. More than one in ten shops on Britain's High Streets and shopping centres now stand empty. It's not a great time to be a retailer.

Interestingly, I'm off down the computer shop this morning to replace some bits and bobs even though these are widely available on line.
The thinking is that I want to know exactly who the suppliers are in case I need to have a word with them later, rather than be arguing the toss over the phone.
In the village where I live there isn't a single shop vacant.
The rents must be sufficiently realistic that people can make a living running them.
Now go into any large town or city centre and you'll see so many empty shops - and it's only going to get worse.
The sad thing is that when these big companies go bust it's the little lads & lasses at the bottom of the corporate pile who pay the price. When Comet closed near me last year the staff were gutted - they'd all worked hard & done their best for the company & ended up just being swept aside. There needs to be a crime of 'Corporate Liability' or something similar whereby the big boys at the top face large fines or jail time if their mismanagement has caused the company to fail.
